Anthony Kellen Wiki

At 7 years old, Kellen knew how to do a Rear-Naked Choke taught to him by his step-dad. Though no formal BJJ gym was around, Anthony started participating in MMA with his friends in backyards with boxing gloves at the age of 10. His best friends (Julio Casillas and Storm Soto) grew to be 6'0" 200lb and 6'6" 250lbs leaving the 5'3" 153lb walking weight Kellen often overmatched. Kellen seemed to have a knack for being able to outlast opponents and avoiding submissions while capitalizing on mistakes.

January 31st, 2009 - Kellen had turned 18 ten days earlier and had heard about some fights happening in Spirit Lake, IA an hour from where he was going to high school. Kellen signs up to fight with his only plan to throw the first punch. With zero striking technique, Kellen lands that first highlight reel punch, continues to take down his opponent Brandon Stephen. Shortly after, Kellen locks in a Rear-Naked choke and hears the crowd "Boooooo" after seeing so many of the earlier fights end with a quick Guillotine choke. Kellen proceeds to let go of the Rear-Naked choke and flattens his opponent out before attempting to knock his opponent unconscious with downward strikes. Fight is stopped quickly by the referee 45 seconds into the first round. (Video on YouTube)

From there, Kellen's First year of fights included: Tri-State CageFighting (TCF) Jan 31 - TKO 1st Round W TCF Feb 28 - Unanimous Decision W TCF Mar 28 - Draw Indiana Fighting Championship Apr 11 - Heelhook 1st round W TCF Apr 25 - Split Decision W TCF May 30 - Standing Guillotine KO 22 seconds into first title fight L Xtreme Challenge Jun 20 - Split Decision L TCF Jun 27 - Unanimous Decision L TCF Jul 11 - RNC 1st Round W (title) TCF Aug 1 - Unanimous Decision L TCF Aug 8 - TKO 5th Round W (title) MaxFightsDesMoines Dec 18 - Unanimous Decision L MFDM Dec 18 - Key Lock 2nd Round W TCF Dec 19 - Unanimous Decision L MFDM Jan 8, 2010 - Triangle 3rd Round W (Resulting in winning a $3000 Polanti Heavy Hitter watch) Omaha Fight Club Jan 16, 2010 - Armbar 1st Round W

April 16, 2010 - Kellen gets his 10th victory and first Knockout in devastating, highlight reel fashion by slamming his opponent while in an armbar. Making his first 10 wins, 10 different ways.

Kellen proceeded finished his Amateur Career with a 16-14-1 record and a 5-1 record in title fights including the TCF Featherweight Title, the Bushido Fighting Championship Featherweight Title, and the Omaha Fight Club Featherweight Title.
Kellen's Professional Career does not start off as good. Kellen falls to 1-9 losing many fights he believed he should have won. Kellen misses many potentially favorable fights as many places will not even allow Kellen to fight with such a bad record. Commissions do not care if you just fought a fighter on the way to the UFC (Brandon Jenkins), your record is your record.
November 22, 2014 - Kellen is offered money by family members to stop fighting and announces his retirement.
October 7, 2017 - Kellen is has not been paid the full money offered to stop fighting and takes some more fights just for fun and some money.

January 21, 2021 - Kellen has just turned 30 and checks the scale, his weight has ballooned to nearly 200 pounds. Kellen jumps on the treadmill and decides that he is going to get in shape with no intention to fight.
January 22, 2021 12:09AM - a text message comes in. "Sean Wilson wants one more"
Kellen had been spending a lot of time playing poker over the years and was made fun of for his record and realized that he did not want his legacy to be 2-12.

Kellen begins actually training for the first time in his career, and is rightfully laughed at when he first goes into the gym and is asked "wait you're fighting pro?"

The Nebraska Athletic Commission attempts to shut the fight down as Kellen's posted record is 2-12 and Wilson's is 39-29. The commissioner even laughs at Kellen when Kellen says that he can beat Wilson. The commission eventually allows the fight to happen. The drop to 170 comes off easy as Antony has spent the last 7 years sitting on the couch eating Doritos and is actually at weight 2 weeks before the fight just getting in shape not even cutting weight.

March 13, 2021 - Wilson comes out swinging with deadly intentions and connecting repeatedly for 3 minutes straight. Kellen is somehow still conscious and gets Wilson into his guard before dropping elbows on Wilson's head covering the fighters in blood. The next 12 minutes of the fight Wilson does not land a single strike and Kellen controls him first up against the cage in the second round blowing kisses to the crowd and then on the ground in the 3rd round where Kellen smothers him. The fight ends and Kellen begins celebrating the win as Wilson sits in the corner in disgust as the heavy favorite to dominate the fight. The judges call the fight a draw seeing the first round as a 10-8 round.

May 14, 2021 - Kellen Continues to lose weight and makes it to 155 for a fight where the opponent no-shows. Luckily an amateur fighter's opponent also no-shows and Kellen is able to compete in an exhibition for the crowd where Kellen secures a quick armbar.
April 29, 2022 - After a year of multiple opponents no-showing, Kellen is finally able to secure another professional win.
